Mohammad Iqbal is a painter from Bangladesh. He earned BFA and MFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, and went on to earn an ME from Aichi University of Education, Japan, and PhD from Tokyo University of the Arts, Tokyo, Japan. Iqbal’s canvases are marked by shadowy figures while the background compositions features abstract forms, soothing colours and mellow tones. His works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Bangladesh and abroad. Iqbal is also a recipient of numerous national and international awards, which include Atish Diponkor Gold Medal in Fine Arts; Nomura Award (Grand Prize), Doctoral Program Final Exhibition, Tokyo University of the Arts, Japan;  Grand Prize, The 14th Memorial Exhibition of Aoki, Kurome city & Bridge Stone Art Museum, Japan; City Mayor Award, Maebashi Art Compe Live 2005, Maebashi, Japan; Superiority Prize in the Western-style painting division, 19th National Culture Festival, Fukuoka, Japan; Artist Quamrul Hassan Memorial Award, National Rabindra Sangeet Council Dhaka; Young Artist Award (Grand Prize), 12th Young Artists Art Exhibition, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy; and many others. He is presently a Professor at Department of Drawing and Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka.
